Located near the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border in Palakkad district, the five-acre site consists of two triangular parcels joined by a narrow bottleneck. Around fifty mature Neem and Tamarind trees occupy the site, with major roads defining its western and southern edges.
The campus is conceived as a place where learning extends beyond the classroom. Formal teaching spaces are organised alongside courtyards, shaded outdoor areas and informal places for gathering, encouraging interaction between students and faculty. The existing trees are retained as an integral part of the campus, providing shade and helping establish a landscape that is both climatically responsive and rooted in the character of the site.
The master plan separates the academic and residential zones, with the academic buildings organised around a large central courtyard and the residential buildings placed towards the northeast. A central playground forms a shared landscape between the two. Vehicular and service movement is kept largely to the periphery, allowing the interior of the campus to remain predominantly pedestrian.
The campus is planned in three phases, allowing the institute to become operational while subsequent buildings are constructed. The first phase establishes the western entrance, with the main institute building, canteen and workshop forming the initial functioning campus. The entrance opens directly towards the central courtyard, which will gradually take shape as the social heart of the institution as later phases are completed.
The architecture remains deliberately understated, using shaded corridors, recessed and projecting edges, and the existing landscape to mediate between the buildings and the courtyard. Over time, the courtyard, trees and open spaces are intended to form a shared setting for learning, gathering and everyday life on campus.
